Condolences

Condolences and Support for Rhian

Our Edgewood Community is still reeling over the loss of our 4th/5th grade teacher, Rhian’s husband.  We know that several families are wanting to find ways to convey condolences and to lend support.  The office will collect cards and pass them along to her.

There is also a goFundme site set up to support  Rhian and her kids during this trying time:

2019 Reading Olympics

February 22nd – March 3rd
It is our hope that Reading Olympics fundraising program will improve your child’s reading skills, and spark a passion for reading that will last a lifetime. The school goal is to raise $10,000, which goes directly into funding special programs in our school. Remember, every penny counts. Those small pledges add up!
Edgewood fundraising is an integral part of being able to continually provide the well-rounded programs that benefit all of our children at Edgewood Community Elementary School. Many of the programs that continue to make Edgewood a great place for elementary education would not exist without donations from generous parents like you.

Rummage Sale March 2nd

Spark Joy for other families! Save your items for the Edgewood Rummage Sale on March 2nd.
So many people are obsessed with Marie Kondo’s Netflix show, “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo,” that local second-hand shops are overrun with discarded items. But Edgewood could use those items!
Our second annual Rummage Sale is coming up on March 2nd! Please consider saving your unwanted items for our Edgewood rummage sale. All of the proceeds go to your school. We’ll be collecting items the last week of February. We’d love to have your donations of clothes racks to hang clothes during the rummage sale. Thank you for considering storing your items to help Edgewood!

Be Safe, Be Seen

February is “Be Safe. Be Seen.” Month
Wednesday, February 6th is our monthly Walk & Roll to School Day! This month’s theme is “Be Safe, Be Seen.” Walking or biking together to school or elsewhere is a chance to practice road safety skills like looking both ways before crossing the street; paying attention to traffic; and acting in a predictable manner. Best of all, it’s a time to be playful, connect, and have fun together!

We encourage everyone to walk, bike, carpool or ride the bus to school. When you do so, it is great to wear bright or reflective items of clothing and lights in addition to practicing safely getting to and from school. If you live a long way from school, try parking a ten minute walk from school and walking the rest of the way. It will wake up your child’s brain for learning and you’ll avoid the parking lot traffic!

Traffic Safety at Edgewood
This is a reminder to please drive slowly as you drop off or pick up your kids at Edgewood. We have received reports of cars driving too fast on the driveway road that connects our two parking lots. Please remember – safety first!
Also, when dropping off kids, please do not stop in the bus lanes. We want all transportation to run smoothly at Edgewood.

PTA Roles Opening

PTA Coordinators for next year
The Edgewood PTA has been able to contribute significantly to enhance student experience and support teachers at Edgewood. But we can only do it with the dedication of our volunteers. Next year, we are looking to fill some key roles and we’d love some new people to step in. Please let Tanya Bunson know if you are interested in helping with Edgewood Village or being the PTA Treasurer next year. We’d love to see some new faces!
