Dear Edgewood Community,
We desperately need more volunteers to help with the Carnival booths! Fun Night becomes whatever the volunteers can put together. Please sign up to help! If we can’t get enough help we’ll have to limit the carnival booths we can offer at one time!
We need volunteers to run carnival stations from 5:15-6:30, 6:30-8:00 or full night, from 5:15-8:15pm. If you are available for a short shift, from 5:15-6:30 or 6:30-8:15 please email Jenny Rosenberger at firstname.lastname@example.org or Tanya Bunson, indicate which time slot you’d like and we’ll put you down for an activity and email you back with your assignment.
If you can volunteer for the full night, from 5:15-8:15pm, please use this link to sign up for an activity: https://signup.com/go/izwBuJE
We would also love to have middle school and high school students help out with the Fun Night carnival. If you have a student interested in coming to Fun Night as a volunteer please let the office know and we will find them a booth to help out in! Youth shifts are from 5:15-6:30 or 6:30-8:15.
Thank you so much for your support of Edgewood’s biggest celebration of the year!
Edgewood Spelling Contest – for interested 3rd, 4th, 5th graders!
Does your child love spelling? If so, they might like to participate in the Edgewood Spelling Contest!
The classroom spelling contest will take place tomorrow on Tuesday, April 16th. Students will be given 25 words to spell. Contestants will write the words on lined paper. This is NOT an oral spelling bee. The top two spellers from each classroom will advance to the Edgewood Spelling Contest (which also happens to be the 4J Spelling Contest, due to the fact that there are no other elementary schools in our district participating this year.)
The Edgewood Spelling Contest/ Eugene 4j District Spelling Contest will be held on Tuesday, April 23rd. The top two students will advance to the Lane County Spelling Contest on Wednesday, May 29th. The winner of the Lane County Spelling Contest will advance to the Oregon Statewide Spelling Championship!
Stretchy pants needed/Pack changes of clothes – Because it is rainy/muddy season, the office is needing to lend out more clothes than usual. We ask that everyone pack a change of clothes because kids are slipping in mud or getting wet. The office is running out of different sizes of clothing. If you have “stretchy” pants that your kids have outgrown and that will fit a variety kids of different sizes we will use them!

In order for us to continue offering these resources, we need parent volunteers to fill coordinating positions. If you are interested in being part of the Edgewood Village leadership team, please contact the office. We are planning to have an information evening on April 30. Place and time TBD.

Walk and Roll for the Earth, Wednesday, April 3rd
In celebration of Earth Day, tell your child(ren) that when they walk, bike, carpool or ride the bus to school, they’re doing something great for the planet and for their friends! Fewer cars driving to our school means less air pollution around our school, which means easier breathing for our kids and the earth!
If you usually drive your child, try parking ten minutes from school and walking the rest of the way. Don’t miss out on the opportunity for a relaxing time connecting with your child while you both get fresh air on the way to and from school! Now is the best time to help your child develop healthy, active habits out in the world.
