Celebrate your student’s Fun Run effort at Yogurt Extreme

Edgewood’s Fun Run Dine-and-Donate event is Friday, Oct. 2 at Yogurt Extreme—on 29th and Willamette. Don’t forget your flyer! Yogurt Extreme will donate 25 percent of your yogurt purchase back to Edgewood. Can’t find the flyer that came home in your student’s folder? No problem. Check the event calendar at the PTA Website: The flyer can be opened and printed from home!

School garden picnic tables

The Edgewood PTA (Thank you John Stapleton!) put in picnic tables in the School Garden area, as requested by the teachers last year. The tables allow the teachers to conduct a full lesson outside—demonstrating and learning in the garden, and then recording their work at the tables. We can’t wait to hear how much learning happens outside in this wonderful garden space!

In need

The PTA is still in need of some key coordinators for events this school year. Remember, it’s only with volunteers that these events can happen! Coordinators are needed for: Green Team, Teacher Appreciation and the End-of-school Field Day. E-mail Beth Casper at to learn more about the position and how you can help!

The PTA accidentally held the first dine-and-donate fundraiser on Yom Kippur, a holy day of fasting for Jewish families. We regret the mistake and are working to ensure that we do not make a similar one in the future. Thank you for bringing it to our attention and for your understanding.

Thank you to Tina Ralston, Hillary Avis, Royce Reece, Julia McMorran, and Casey Wilson and everyone else who helped make the Freecycle event hugely successful! We couldn’t have done it without so many volunteers helping to wash and sort clothes!

Have a great week,

John Stapleton, PTA president,
Beth Casper, PTA vice-president,
David NT, PTA Secretary,
Meridith Turnbull, PTA Treasurer,
