No school Friday
Just a reminder that there is no school Friday!
Oregon Battle of the Books Battle Week is soon!
The final OBOB meeting is Wednesday, Feb. 1 from 1:45-2:45p.m. in the Edgewood Library. Students will battle all books in preparation for OBOB Battle Week, Feb. 13th to 17th. They are ready to BATTLE!!
Help pack snack packs for the Edgewood Village!
The Edgewood Village is currently serving 19 children and their siblings every weekend. We have complete snack packs to last through the end of January.
On Friday, February 10, Gayle Sawyer will host a snack pack stuffing party at drop-off (8:35 AM) in the cafeteria. Those interested can email gayle.lb.sawyer@gmail.com to participate.
Bring in those Box Tops!
So far we have turned in 3,268 Box Tops. At this point we have earned $344.60 with Box Tops clippings and two other programs: Costco Golden Box Tops Challenge and Safeway’s eBoxTops just for U program.  Last year, we were able to raise over $1,000 collecting box tops for our school. Every box top clipping helps! Box Top Bill, and the Box Top Queen will try to visit every classroom next week to remind students to keep bringing in their box tops.

Please consider signing up for the Safeway eBoxTops just for U program on your Safeway Club Card. Go to your Safeway Club Card account and under the “View By Event” Category – click on “Box Tops for Education” and register “Edgewood Community Elementary” as your school.
Thank you! The Box Top Team
After School Homework Club Coordinator Needed!
There is interest among the staff in starting an after-school homework club. If you are interested in taking the role of parent-in-charge (with direction from teacher Sally Krueger) of this project, please contact Tanya (bunson_t@4j.lane.edu) or Sally Krueger (krueger@4j.lane.edu). This is a great opportunity to help students complete their work and feel confident in their progress.
Parents, be a voice for your students and for our schools!
Stand for Children is offering an opportunity for parents to come to Salem, meet your state legislators and share your thoughts on school funding and raising our high school graduation rate. Training is provided.
It is Monday, Feb 20th (it’s a no-school day, you can bring students), from 9a.m. to 3p.m. at the State Capitol. For more information, contact Joy Marshall, Stand for Children, jmarshall@stand.org or 541-912-2921.
