Apr. 24, 2017 News Blast

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week!
Check your student’s folders this week for information about how we are appreciating our teachers. Parents and students can celebrate their teachers by bringing in themed items each day. Thank you for participating and showing our teachers how important they are!

Pick up your Silent Auction items!
Didn’t get a chance to pick up the items you won at the Silent Auction at Fun Night? Or don’t know if you won anything? Stop by the Silent Auction table Tuesday and Thursday morning at drop-off and Wednesday afternoon at pick-up. You can also purchase some items that are still for sale!

Still want to order a t-shirt? Need an Edgewood bag? It’s not too late!
The office has more order forms if you are interested in placing an order for a tshirt or a hoodie. We will place another order early next week if we have enough interest. Tshirts cost $10, zipper hoodies are $25 and regular hoodies are $20. There are a few Edgewood bags leftover from Fun Night for $5. Please turn in forms and payment by Friday, April 28!

Save your old electronics!
Edgewood is again part of the electronic waste recycling competition among schools. Bring old computers, cell phones, monitors, cables, laptops, keyboards, mice, hair dryers, blenders, monitors, coffee makers, toasters and anything else that plugs in or runs on batteries. Light bulbs and regular batteries are not part of this collection but rechargeable batteries are welcome. The bin will be in the hallway between the cafeteria and gym from May 15-19th.

You can also bring your donations directly to NextStep, 2101 W. 10th Ave., during the entire month of May. Mention Edgewood and the donation will be added to the total collected pounds.

Edgewood has the chance to win a robot made with recycled materials by a local artist and a gift certificate to NextStep! Thank you for contributing to our recycling efforts!
Want to promote biking and walking?
Edgewood’s Bike+Walk+Bus Week is coming up in May (it can be any week in May) but we don’t have a coordinator to run this easy event. If you are interested in helping, email PTAEdgewood@gmail.com.
Box Tops
Keep clipping those box tops, because we are still collecting! Every box top helps!

Parent Information Nights: Student Safety Training
Parents will have an opportunity to review school safety materials and ask questions of district staff and local law enforcement on two evenings this month. If you would like to learn more before these safety concepts and strategies are shared with your student in class, please come to a parent information night or talk to your school about reviewing the materials at a different time.
